Back to school is right around the corner! See the link below for some adorable ways to capture your child's first day of school.

25 Unforgettable First Day of School Pictures

My little ones have both been on Moana kick lately. It is a great movie but after having it on in the background 4 times in a row it can get a little repetitive. One would think that since neither child was paying attention to the movie when it ended that they would not request to see it again but little people are also little personalities! If you have Moana fans in your house here are some craft ideas to incorporate!

No Whining Zone

We have all seen the No Whining sign at some point. But, how do we get our children to obey it. Those little personalities can shift from sweet to whining to straight up jerk in a matter of seconds. It can be hard to keep track of which version of your child you are dealing with let alone keep your cool. I will admit lately I have not been able to keep my cool and I have seen the result of that in my kiddo. He is more whinny and sassy than usual. It is always a good rule of thumb to remember that children are parrots in words and actions so what you do your child will copy. My little ones actions have shown me that as of late I have been short, whiny and sassy! It has also been a bit of a parenting check for me. I realize that his actions are not only a result of my attitude but also a cry for attention. We have been so busy lately that our little man has not had the attention he is craving. Listening to whining for me is the worst. I can't stand that tone of voice and my actions show it.  Below is a great link on how to deal with this type of behavior.

Why Do Kids Whine & How To Get Them To Stop

Ripon Rocks

If you have not gotten in on the fun this summer, there is still time! Ripon, WI ROCKS is a Facebook group where people post about creating, hiding and finding painted rocks around town! It is an awesome way to get kids out and about this summer. Even businesses are partaking in the fun! Crop Paper Stickers in downtown Ripon has periodically set up a rock painting station, free of charge! They provide rocks, paint, markers and a sealer! So if you are interested visit the facebook page for more details, https://www.facebook.com/groups/1458223084257596/?ref=bookmarksGather your supplies and have fun painting, hiding and finding rocks around the parks and public spaces in Ripon! So much fun!

Green Thumb

I love this time of year because of all the beautiful bright colors. I love the look of plants and flowers but I do not have a green thumb. I am better at killing than growing plants. Plus having a baby, toddler and a cat; plants do not survive in our house. I was really excited to try and succeed at this cute idea on Pinterest (See link to Pinterest picture below - the original website does not show this craft). What a fun way to add some green 'plant' life to your house without worrying about if you watered them or not. These rock cactus were so much fun to create. Even my toddler helped collect the rocks from a creek at Grandma and Grandpa's, then helped to paint them green! He had so much fun! See link below if you would like to try your hand at this simple and affordable craft.

Painted Rock Cactus

I have begun to notice my preschooler is starting to lie to my husband and me. I grew concerned because I want to be the kind of parents that kids are honest with while they grow up and to have an open relationship where they feel comfortable and safe talking to us. Of course being a mom nowadays I jump to the mommy guilt answer of what am I doing to encourage this behavior? We do not lie to our preschooler, we explain things to him in simple terms that he can understand and I answer as many Why? questions as I can. So I was pleased to find out that I am doing nothing wrong. This lying behavior is totally normal for ages 3 to 5. Although it is normal, the post below gives some great advice on how to cultivate an honest kid.
