I have begun to notice my preschooler is starting to lie to my husband and me. I grew concerned because I want to be the kind of parents that kids are honest with while they grow up and to have an open relationship where they feel comfortable and safe talking to us. Of course being a mom nowadays I jump to the mommy guilt answer of what am I doing to encourage this behavior? We do not lie to our preschooler, we explain things to him in simple terms that he can understand and I answer as many Why? questions as I can. So I was pleased to find out that I am doing nothing wrong. This lying behavior is totally normal for ages 3 to 5. Although it is normal, the post below gives some great advice on how to cultivate an honest kid.
